Have we any in here, if so, do you talk down to every single person that walks through the doors? I mean what makes them better than everyone else?

Why let them ? Either make a complaint or call him up on it there and then otherwise he/she will just keep doing it
Oh believe me, I did but he'll just laugh it off and do it to the next customer. I've got his name on the test sheet but the problem is that nearly all of them in the Letterkenny branch are the same. Can you really effectively complain about an entire branch without coming across like a customer with a chip on your shoulder?

Do it to the main address rather than the branchQuote:

A tester in Ballymun tried it with me before when I brought up the wife's Bora. To say he got a surprise when I told him how much of a thick f@ck he was would be an understatement.
He assumed I didn't know about cars as I was in my normal clothes and twas clean :D
Car passed!
I've seen the general "I couldn't give a shit attitude" on them but that's as bad as I've seen personally. How bad do they get?
When I was in last the fella that did mine was all chat about the coilovers etc.
Its the mechanic's personality disorder in action - once anyone works in the trade for any amount of time they become incapable of having a normal conversation with people and start grunting at you instead. Any bit of work that's anyway involved is just hassle for them, and they'll make sure you're aware of what a big favour they're doing in accepting your business (and cash).
Easy to switch mechanics though - unfortunately we're stuck with our NCT testers. There a few in Ballymun who quite obviously hate their job and like to make sure you're aware of it at every opportunity.
After meeting several dickheads in ballymuns center iv switched to fonthill for my last 3 ncts and everyone of them have been absolute gents to deal with always comment on the car and give a good explanation about things that might need changing in the future
The Ballymun one is a shithole, unfortunately they know they don't need to be nice to customers as they will always have customers no matter what
Deansgrange always been fine IME too
+1 on Deansgrange - then again, might have had a different opinion if I'd ever been failed !!
I have only ever had to NCT a car once in Ireland, and that was the missus' MR2 in Deansgrange. No complaints.
MOT'ing a a car is so much easier, if you get the right garage of course!
Fonthill are grand for me too and always very polite...
Whats this I hear about them now complaining about dirt on the underneath of cars?? That should be an element of the job they have to put up with IMO
I've only had good experiences with Deansgrange, had the same chap test the
car this year and last, and he was very complementary both times, even tho
it failed last year and had to be re tested.
Only other NCT centre I've been to was Ballymun, took a family members car
to get tested, it failed on something ridiculous and they basically told me to
shag off when I was asked about it. Took about a half hour to get the car in too
I've had a few tests in Donegal Town and they're a little more human tbf but I firmly believe if they had a manager on site it'd be a start.

Is there not a manager on site or someone in charge on site?Quote:

I got a nct on my gti polo in Letterkenny last year and found the guy very sound and approachable. It flew through and I was actually expecting it to fail as it was stupid low (I think he liked the car!.) Then again if it did fail id probably be giving out about them and say I had a negative experience.
Just to highlight the point, I'm not angry because of the test outcome, just the way the staff opperate.
One that popped into my head...
I had my wifes Zafira in and being an opel the bonnet pull is broken. So I have a €60 pair of large Knipex pliers I use in the door pocket. The tester popped The bonnet no problem but set the pliers on the bench. He worked away and even moved the pliers out of his way before moving off. So after the test he proceeded to give out about the emissions and almost slammed the screen shut until I jarred him about the pliers. "What pliers" was the responce. I had to slowly explain what he had done with them before he actually went to get them. I didn't even get a sorry, just a "I wasn't trying to steel them" as he was walking away. Prick.
