Is this the "Roof Rack" you were talking about about that was due to arrive so that you could transport staff around ? :tounge: Me likey
Great wagon should look great when you work your magic.
Thanks guys, it will be a while before I can get stuck into it properly but for now a good service and timing belt change is on the cards.
The other bonus with it is it's a 2.4td which is great as most are straight diesel. I've always wanted a hilux tbh but always ended up buying other jeeps like landcruisers , patrols etc. Body wise it's i neeeeeed!, but mechanically it seems A1 and not an oil leak in site.

friend has this hilux, great yoke, the wheels are unbelievable in the bog or swanpy areas.he always does the Patrick days parade in his
That looks pretty cool James, bet those tires are noisy on the road!!! :).
Some pictures of the truck before any sort of love is shown, didn't have much time so only a handful of before's but shall get plenty as it progresses. For now the aim of the game is to keep it mechanically tip top and clean down the chassis to inspect for the dreaded rot although so far all seems okay. Once the chassis is clean and free from years of crud I shall paint it. Tires will be needed before the next doe in June.

Check out hpoc.co.uk hi lux pickup owners club. I was on there a few years back some great ideas and advise. I sold mine due to house move. [CRYING FACE]
Cheers Dan, shall check it out during the week and have a good look around :). Decided no better way to introduce the Hilux to Super4 life then to give it a damn good wash, glad I did this at a jet wash as I washed off a serious amount crap.
I pre sprayed Meguiars RTFR all over the body and chassis and let it sit for a few minutes before washing it all off. Then out came the Meguiars shampoo and wash mitt followed by a rinsing. Being honest the body is pretty poor paint and dent wise but I still couldn't bring myself to use the brush lance :).

Decided to see could I make a start on trying to get rid of the woeful smell in the truck..... So the stripping started and oil changed in between. There were 3 sets of seat covers on each seat and it looks like new owners just kept putting one on top of the other and so on. When I got them off I could see why on the driver side, the base outside bolster looks like JAWS had a go at it.
There are a few missing trims I need to get my hands on and also some are broken so need to be replaced.

Small update, managed to find a clean chrome bumper and some chrome door handles for "Wabi-Sabi". Have already removed the old front bumper and started to clean up the corrosion on the inside of the chrome bumper. Shall get lots more pics up tomorrow. Found some nasties while I was there but nothing too severe.

Some more pictures of the bumper clean up. There was plenty of corrosion on the inside of the bumper so this was all sanded down and them painted with Rust converter gel three times. This was then rinsed off and wire brushed, cleaned once more and the bumper masked up to be primered using Wurth Rust Proofing Primer.

I then gave the inside of the bumper a coat of Simmoniz black tough coat for good measure after 3 Coates of primer (forgot photos). The face of the chrome bumper has 2 dents/creases in it which I removed as best I could and they for the most part came out nicely. Shall get some pictures up of them flattened.

After that I waited for the paint to be touch dry and in the mean time went about finishing the removal of the rear bars behind the cab rear window. Still some grinding to be done but getting there.

FRONT BUMPER ON :
http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/...ps40lb3e1e.jpg
The front valance still needs to go back on but shall wait till new clips arrive before it goes back on. Also I noticed to of the corner bumper mounting brackets and hangers are shot so these shall need replacing but for now all is good.
Thanks for looking :)

great work cab :) she's coming along nicely
Front valance back on, cable tied mind you!. The front end shall be all coming apart soon so no point to use new clips for now. She took us to sligo last Sunday (to collect a bike for a friend) without a hitch.
One thing that needs changing sooner than later is the fuel level sender as it's on its way out but I shall be making do until it's time for the rear tub to come off for chassis paint etc.

It's a very grippy paint once dried and also goes rock solid but needs multiple coats to be truly durable and upto the task.
CLOSE UP :

I also managed to pick up a new pre primed tail gate door which is off the crew cab SR5 models so it's slightly different than the old one as it has no hooks and is smooth finish with no logo. Should look okay once painted.

Having recently rattle can plasti dipped the truck I was fully aware that the 4.5 x 400ml cans would only do so much and that the dip would be quite fragile with such a light coat. So I ordered a gallon can and got cracking, using the rattle canned dip as a base coat. The truck is now fully and properly dipped so should be quite durable. It's made a huge difference and take years off it IMO. Hope you like and any questions regarding the dip just ask.

how much for the kit to do a e39

For example if you have a black car that you want dipped white you will use a lot more product (white dip) in order to cover the black fully and get a nice rich, even bright white finish. Other factors like using dip primer before hand and Pro-shield protective coating afterward also make the process more costly but will extend the dips durability meaning longer lasting and better quality finish.
If you have any questions do just ask.

Small update, fitted a RING Wireless reversing camera which should hopefully rule out sticking the tow bar through someone's front grill. With the rear of the Hilux being quite high its very hard to gauge how far away the t-bar is. Its a Bluetooth kit so no need to run lots of wires from the camera into the cab of the truck. Simply wire the camera to the reverse light wires in the loom so when reverse is engaged it comes on, or in my case I ran them to a preinstalled loom and on/off switch in the cab so I can have it on or off when ever I want.
The picture quality is good and the parking guide is a handy on/off function should it be needed. It took all of 20 minutes to install with the most time taken up wondering where to put the monitor. I plan on changing the head unit at some point to a double din Bluetooth item with rear camera compatibility so when the appropriate unit is found I shall then do away with the window mounted monitor. Being a 2 channel setup a second camera can also be paired should it be required, so for instance one can be fitted to the car/van/jeep etc and the second camera fitted to a trailer, caravan etc.
The camera kits which available to buy from Super4 for €195.00 delivered.

Even these oem wheels ,refurbed ,[/align] would look very good on this black mat
I think so too Valdas the problem is they are not wide enough to accommodate big stupid tires :D :D. The standard steelies are only 6" wide so really can only go max of 235 on them. Would like 265's on her. I may have found a set of used alloys.Quote:
