Anybody running one of these?
I'm getting rid of UPC tv next week but keeping the broadband.
Don't know which one to get. Loads of lads on facebook and adverts selling them for €120-€160.
I don't know where to start tbh

I am running XBMC now called kodi from a dedicated windows PC on to my 42" tv and find it great. As far as I know Marlow has one and is happy with it.
I've bought 3 of these in the past few weeks. No complaints here

Thanks, Maurice.
Yeah, there's regular updates and custom roms too.
Xbmc / kodi is already installed out of the box.
Cheers Alan.Quote:

Android is handy enough and most people are familiar with adding the good apps I think? Xbmc is not hard to set it up but there's a small learning curve if you haven't used it before.
Generally you can add all the apps that the guys on adverts offer.as they are just installing them from the Web.
I don't have the Irish stuff installed as i wouldn't watch it but I can check it out for you. I've seen them in the app lists
Where do ye get the m3u links for live tv lads?
I decided to hop on the bandwagon tonight and give kodi a try out. If I can get it working correctly on my desktop, I'll get rid of **crappy** Horizon TV and pick myself up some sort of a small box for it.
So far I've got 7000 channels and hardly any of them work :hehe!:
you tube is your friend, cant remember which one I used but have a look.it can be tricky getting it working correctly
If you have android try mobdro app rather than xbmc
Another fan here, this is the box I've got running at present: http://m.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_109956.html
If I bought that now, how do I get live TV on it?Quote:

what about this over the mxIII box , does this have more on it as opposed to the mxIII ? really thinking of ordering something i can play out of the box

They're the same thing, that box is slightly higher spec and has a remote with it.
Hes installed a few apps which takes about 5 mins.
If you can install an app on your phone it's the same or similar so decide if it's worth an extra 70eu for that out of the box
Only thing i can't find is a tv3 and tg4 app so maybe he has developed one but i doubt it
Also, if you have a friend or relative who still has sky or upc you can install their app and use their login for free access to all those channels
ok so if I order the cheaper one is it simple process to install the apps he has
thanks again
Yeah, install apps is easy. I don't think they have anything that's not easily available for free but don't know 100%
Alan I'm nearly sure I pulled in TV3 & TG4 on Modbro last night.Quote:

Alan, how do you control this box? Remote control?Quote:

You can use kodi remotes but they won't work outside the kodi app so other apps are off limits then.
There is a built in android remote app which can be installed on any android phone which works well enough too

I've 3 of these on order
Ok so got one over the weekend. Haven't used it properly yet but Horizon Go is not working :(
UPC must know it's a TV box.
I don't think the app supports rooted devices, which your tv box is. Sky Go also only support certain specific devices that they list on their site, so that app won't work either out of the box.Quote:

It's like a minefield at the moment. I'm bleeding lost with it. First time using XBMC.Quote:

to get xbmc/kido going, ive seen a lot of people recommend aidymatic
http://koditime.com/downloads/AidyMatic.apk
if you want to go a bit more in depth, xbmc is fairly simple once you have the hang of it:
you need a repository file - you can either download these yourself or add a "source" which works like a huge reposiory
repositories usually contain 1 or more addons
once youve installed a repository you can open it and install any add ons it includes
the repository makes sure your add on is always up to date
once installed you can run the addon from the main menu
for xbmc, id suggest "suprrepo" as your base but "fusion" and "tvaddons" are out there if you google them
the official repository also has some good stuff in it
heres a fairly easy guide to set up superrepo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEBuJhJsghg
then the main addons id suggest to to go for are
genesis
cliq
stream all the sources
1channel
icefilms
Thanks Alan, the box came with alot of pre-installed items including XBMC. Showbox, HD Cinema and Videobits i think.Quote:

Ive downloaded it anyhow and he was right, no playback.
What box did you get Keith? Sky Go is only supported by a strict list of devices here: http://help.sky.com/articles/sky-go-supported-devices?country=ie
As for the Horizon, I was full sure that it doesn't support rooted devices (android speak for iOS jailbreaking).
I got the Ferguson F-Box.Quote:

Anyway, just have to get used to this thing now :)
You're not missing much with upc.
It's 99% copyright restricted and they don't have planned to change it
With the right addins, you will not be short on content! Speaking of which, what sources are people using for the footy? I'm using a combination of ace streams using the external ace player and some of vdubt25's links. Both of which are good quality and with minimal buffering interruptions.
I'm just clicking stuff and seeing if they work. All children's cartoon channels don't work for me at present.Quote:
