NO! I managed to crack the $hit out of my windscreen removing the old one :(:@:@:@:@
Pi$$ed doesn't cover it!
Oh man gutted for you mark :(
How did you do it does it not just twist off the bracket or is it on with sticky stuff ?
Ouch, awful. That sounds like something I would do.
Given the week I've had, me too Andy.Quote:

Yep, it's insured, but finding someone that will fit it properly is PITA. Anyone on here (who is a perfectionsist) used any recommended windscreen places in Dublin?Quote:

On a brighter note I jsut picked up my sub, enclosure & amp for the e36.Never did the whole ridiculous stereo thing when I was younger so I'm like a child with that stuff!
Bring on the new windscreen now!
Afraid not. Had the horrible experience on a 12 week old car and used a well know company via insurance who made a complete balls of a job, resulting in a complaint, refit and replacement damaged trim. Still wasn't perfect 2nd time round either :@Quote:

Autoglass is Cork did my e39 & it was reasonable enough from the outside except they got the black stuff on my A pillar.Quote:

PM Ger he is on Driver as CoupeM he had the mini he is based in Dundalk so not sure how that will work but he does windscreens
Cheers, I went with Autoglass in Cork again in the end, they windscreen is only available as OEM BMW thankfully, so I'm happy about that.Quote:

Last year in Blarney Mark coded the car for amongst other things, the lock/unlock confirmation beep but at the time it didn't work so figured there was something wrong with the sounder. To then and now, when the car's alarm was triggered the cars horn would sound, I'm guessing it does this by default when there's a fault with the proper alarm sounder Then a combination of me both forgetting about it and being a lazy bastard, the job kept getting put off, that is at least till Mark shamed me in Blarney a few weekends ago and reminded me about it, and also suggested that I try and replace the batteries in the sounder to see if that would sort it. What was putting me off about it the most was the fact that the alarm siren sounder is located inside the rear bumper which had to be removed to access it:

So any way, last weekend I took the bumper off and replaced the batteries in the sounder:

But that didn't work... so I found a used one on ebay and decided it would be worth a shot. It arrived yesterday so today I got stuck in and swapped them out. I even put the new batteries (CR123A, €14/pair) I bought last weekend in the replacement unit it give it every chance.
Success!!
Lock/Unlock confirmation beeps, and the alarm works properly too.
Job done.
Great stuff Colm, you're determination to get the issue solved is admirable! Plus I get to say"I was right!" :) :D
Drove through a flood on the quay in cork this morning in a lowered car, tense moments ! was above the sill and no way to turn around.got through it anyhow and interior stayed dry so happy days
Replaced the CCFL's with LED Angle Eyes. Thanks to DonB for the wiring help.
Also had the car looked over by Conor for the NCT in a week or 2, few small jobs nothing serious luckily.
Thanks gents
...also thanks to Chris for the loan of the heat gun
Washed and dried the 1er. (wow)
Have been using quick detailer as a drying aid for the last few months. And recently i've been using Orchard County Detailing Perfection Spray. Really impressed with it so far. I'd nearly go as far as saying its like a liquid wax. Really good for topping up in between waxing.
Then took her out for a spin as you do. Unfortunately the hateful orange light was on so i tip- toed all the way to the BP, filled up with Super and then barked the whole way home. :D:D
Throw a couple of pics up! ;)Quote:

As well as the fan coupling, I'm going to replace the thremostat, belts and tensioner and idler pulleys as well as the tensioners themselves.
It's easy enough make a tool. Just drill a hole near the edge of a pice of flat and then grind a little half moon next to it to fit around the pulley. If you have a plastic hammer you shouldn't need it though. Place spanner on the nut and give it a good whack. Remember the nut is left hand thread though.
Aye. I have the 32mm Fan spanner here. Was whopping all night with a 4lb lump hammer and she wont budge. Clockwise direction of course. ;)Quote:
