RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
yup connected it but made no difference
RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
Its been so long now what i did when fitting has just completely left my head but iirc the fm booster needs some sort of power to get it to function if that makes sense
Re: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
I dont recall having to do any additional wiring though "i think" my antenna wire was just like this one which does not need wiring in http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/01/y9ugu8er.jpg
This isn't limited to your headunit iv seen it from all brands of all in ones including androids
RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
Do you know if you have power to your aerial amp located at at the rear screen side panel. You may have to splice a remote power wire from the wiring harness on your new unit to the car wire loom to power the amp.
RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
dont know but i have crystal clear reception with standard radio when i plug it back in its just on the new unit ?

RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
The standard unit has a power supply to switch on the aerial amp. On your new unit this remote wire on the wiring harness may not be connected to the remote wire on the car side. There are plenty of wiring diagrams of the stereo wire looms on line, if it's not powered you can splice the correct wires together.
You have checked the aerial connection.Sometimes depending where the unit came from it may be configured for foreign reception frequencies.

RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
Hi, far from expert myself trial and error .did you find anything else relating to this on line I read about component issues with poor reception.
firstly you need to confirm is your amp getting power open the rear panel and check amp.for power with a multimeter . If you see my diagram block A pin 13 this powers the aerial amp from the oem stereo. There are 2 remote wires on your unit 3 and 23 that would supply power to your amp these could be spliced to the wiring in your car that corresponds to the wire that would be connected to block A pin 13 if you catch my drift.I not too far from you if you get stuck give us a shout.
RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception

RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception

RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception

RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
Well you have checked power to the amp all good
Amp is working as you have good reception on old stereo
The only thing I can see is there seems to be two wires for the aerial could be your problem (items 22 or 10). I have one like the second one Gar posted and it works perfect (I have an alpine unit) you can get leads like this handy enough on line, UK car stereo sites, Halfords might have one but ring first.
After that I am at a loss, could be a component failure in your unit but hopefully the lead will fix it. [/align]
I see people talk about signal boosters but I don't know as anything about them.
RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
Davy, I put one of these units briefly in the E90. Same problem, couldn't be fixed on mine (Veyron Unit). Something to do with the oem radio getting a powered amp supply for the aeriel which is not in a lot if the aftermarket replica units.
I was told I should of went the Dynavin route.
RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
This can happen with all aftermarket headunits even sony pioneer etc
As i siad to you in pm i recall having the single piece antenna connector and my radio reception is flawless with the other with two wires it must have to be tapped to a power source as mac siad
This thread might help just came across it http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=154437
More info here http://www.e46zone.com/forum/topic/25079-poor-radio-reception-after-market-head-units/
@keith dynavin would have most likely gave you the same result as you'll see in thread above
RE: How can i Boost FM Radio Reception
just in case anyone else has the same problem with the eonon unit i found a solution
i got a new cable for the back of it called a Metra 40-EU55

i found a guy in the US who recommended it as a fix and in fairness its a massive improvement and now i have clear radio reception in all but complete wilderness and even there i have the national stations like 2fm today fm etc
