E38 Project

Just thought id through up a thread on my E38 735i V8. She's a work in progress.

So when i got her had her fully serviced courtesy of Cab in Super4bmw. Dropped in a Pipercross panel filter. Put in a M sport 3 spoke mulitfunction steering wheel as i do not like the SE steering wheels way too thin. I also had to replace the Alternator as it went within the first 6 weeks of getting the car. Now that was a pain... also cost me... Put on Clear front indicators and CCFL rings

I change the exhaust from the standard pipes to quads which was done by Souhans. They did an awesome job and notched the bumper for me.

I replace the original head unit with a Parrot Asteroid single Din unit.

When I removed the side skirts I saw that there was rust behind it looked like the previous owner had mounted a kerb and damaged the body. will need to get it sorted by the guys in car craft. untill i have the cash going to treat it myself

Items on my wish list:
New alloys probably 18" staggered
Eibach pro kit (she needs to be lowered way too high for me)
put poly-bushes on her

So will upate as I go. Any comments or suggestions welcomed.

Was a custom build from cats back. And thankfully Chris put it together in sections rather than one piece.

Would advise getting the back box as straight through would drone. Speaking from my brothers experience with his z4

I am kind of sad like that, I tend to remember nice cars and when and where I saw them. Actually thought about going to look at it too. He also sold the E36 with 19k miles many years ago that's on the forum now.

Not many E38s out there and most if them are driven by older generations who don't have any interest in bringing them to there full potential.

She'll be a very different animal by the time I'm finished with her...

well had the NCT tonight and only faled on 3 things all visual. 1. directional tire on wrong side doh!! 2. missing nut on wheel need to get hub re-threaded previous owner cross threaded all the nuts. 3. two metal clips for side skirt (removed for rust repair) need to tape over. should have NCT cert hopefully next week :)

So I've sorted out the rust sanded it right down treated it and put on 6 to 8 top coats now to lacquer it (another 3 to 4 coats

So I've got new top mounts and the eibach pro kit is on the way now looking at getting new shocks and looking for bit of advice. What are the best to get (not huge money) bilstine, Monroe or kyb? Looking at bilstine b4's full set for just under €500. Comments appreciated

So just an up date on the E38 project.

I have put Clear lenses on the rear from the Standard Orange lensesAttachment 3539

I have Vinyl Wrapped the interior with a grey Aluminum wrap (Pic to follow)

Put in the E38 Msport Black leather and Alcantara Electric interior need the driver seat bolster foam repaired. Attachment 3543 Attachment 3544 Attachment 3545 Attachment 3546 Attachment 3547 Attachment 3548

Got X5 Tiger claw alloys (waiting on tyres and spacers)

I have ordered the Eibach Pro kit which will be here next week and top mounts which are currently sitting with Cab in Super4.

So getting close to were i want her. only couple of things left to do like getting a new head unit looking at the Parrot Asteroid Smart as only double din shallow enough to go into her at not to big money.

Yeah the tax is a killer. But kinda worth it. Wish we'd go like the French and pay for road tax through petrol/ diesel prices or pay by direct debit

She's back on the road anyway as she was at the Thursday night meet last week.
