Tyre pressures car manufacturer vs tyre maker ?
Question what pressure do you go by do you use the cars official tyre pressures from the door jam or do you use the tyre manufacturers recommendations
Reason I ask is bmw recommend to use 2.2 bar front 2.6 bar rear on the 18" setup
But having looked at vredestein and choosing my car and tyre they recommend 3.0 bar front 2.8 bar rear
Odd as rear pressures are usually higher on staggered wheel bmw setups

32 psi in everything and crack on....:tounge:
RE: Tyre pressures car manufacturer vs tyre maker ?
Weird, it's saying that mine should be 3.2 bar front and 3.1 bar rear.
That's 46 PSI front and 45 PSI rear...isn't that very very high?

@venom too low/soft for me especially in the rear
@donal seems excessively high doesn't it ?

Man I wouldn't fancy that at all, seems crazy high. I personally don't go over 36 and don't find that I'm missing anything

Normally pressures that high would only be recommend on the door jam label if the car was fully loaded ie. 4 adults and full boot
36 is about what I run on the rear 2.5/2.6 bar
RE: Tyre pressures car manufacturer vs tyre maker ?
Usually 30 all around. Haven't a clue what to use for the csl's

Sounds low shane check the label pressures inside the driver door should be listed for the 19" wheel be the same or similar as csl's
RE: Tyre pressures car manufacturer vs tyre maker ?
I was getting my wheels aligned today and the guy told me he always puts 36 psi in the front and 30psi in the rear for bmws

The pressure on the tyres are for if your carrying around a load of chubbies the whole time aka max load :D
32-35psi all round.

The specs for mine in the door jam are very low , 1.8 front 2.2 rear. With that I was getting edge wear on my tyres.I'm now running more like 2.0/2.2
RE: Tyre pressures car manufacturer vs tyre maker ?
Theres a number of options on the door jam , you have different size wheels tyres etc then you have fully loaded 4 adults full boot then there's just 2 adults up front seperate pressures for these
RE: Tyre pressures car manufacturer vs tyre maker ?
R18 ,minimum 2.4 bar up to 2.7 bar ,all around for not hot irish climate . i had my e39 with R18 ,got it with around 2.2 - 2.3 bar all around ,tires was new and used up to 2k mls ,and they there worn on outer sides ,thats mean too low pressure .got them up to 2.6 bars and they there worn to death all straight and full tire
RE: Tyre pressures car manufacturer vs tyre maker ?
Thats what iv been running on the rear for 2 years now 2.6 I get good even wear right across the tyre fronts I run 2.3
Anything lower and it just looks like iv a slow puncture on the front
Looking through the manuals here is well the heavier the engine the higher the pressures, much higher
