Yikes!! I thought it was only the older stuff getting shafted but a good rodgering all round it seems

Both our policies are through Arachas, interesting one for you though. The Mrs. renewal came in on the cooper D, up 250 on the year before, she rang and complained and they reissued the quote 300 quid cheaper!!
The industry is a pure arm chancing scam! Fairness to the broker though, they have yet to be been beaten for us and the policy is great. Time I got a tip in the E92 they were worth their weight in gold, sorted everything out and when the offender's insurance were dragging their heals they enacted the legal cover and I got paid pronto.
Which crowd are people using for M3s ?
Having a bit of trouble with my renewal. Chill wants 1.9k up from 1k last year. Due to car being 2001 and 3.2liter... makes me wanna start a riot
I pay 1100 for the 02 m3 with an Post. Ive found them brilliant the passed few years, but just to caveat, I rang at the weekend to insure a 640d that I'm thinking of buying and despite having full no claims the cheapest they could do is €1900, which is a farce in my eyes. Worth a try anyway and their online quote system seems to work well.
I'm also with An Post for my 02 M3. I'm paying €945 and it was pretty much the same last year.
An Post refused because the car is 01, so still on a hunt.
Just got my Renewal in from Aviva this morning on the 540i, €2,431 for Fully Comp including Full No Claims Protection. Got that down to €2,278 by adding the mother and having a Multicar discount. I don't think it's terrible in today's insurance market for a 4.4 at 23. I can drop that another €320 by removing my no claims protection if I wanted to but think it may be best to keep it!
To end the saga.
Went to follow up on the 1600e quote from QuoteDevil. When I told them that I have only been a resident in Ireland since 2002 my quote went up to 2300e! What! I wasn't even a driving age in 2002. Anyway, told them to get stuffed. With the tail between my legs I went back to my current insurance AIG through chill to renew my quote, which was 1900e. When I was updating my address I told them that I dont live in D12 anymore and moved to D16 even tho its D24 technically and BOOM my renewal quote dropped 400 Europeans! I am kinda chuffed with 1500E since in I was flatly been refused by every since broker and underwriter! So even tho its still went up 300e from last year I am happy that I dont have to store the car somewhere and cycle around coz I cant afford my car anymore :)
I ended up getting mine for €2,071 through my renewal with Aviva, dropped my no claims protection as I couldn't justify the 10-15% of my renewal for it.
Cooper S renewal is down €20-30 to €311. Result!
Got insured for 470€ on the 535d (2007)
Brought it up to 510€ by adding NCB protection
34, 13yrs NCB so technically 5+
To think I didn't insure a car for nearly 2 months because they were asking 1200€ for the s2000, which I thought was disgraceful
123.ie, got a few discounts, multi policy, house etc
Quotes in today for the e46 M3, e36 M3 and e30
The e46 is €776 with Alliance via Arachas.
The e36 and e30 are €330 with AIG through first Ireland on a classic policy.
Not a bad starting point but I’ll have a look around.
Is that €330 each or both together John?
I got a renewal quote for €2,773 for the M6 from Aviva!! Tripled! Have that policy 18 years with them, that’ll be over now. No reward for loyalty. Got it for just under €1k with Axa with €250 excess.
Need to figure out where to go with vert in June. It would be great if they’d treat the Mini as a classic too.
That’s for both RR.
That’s some increase on the M6! I appreciate that insurance companies are a volume business but that’s ridiculous, especially if they review your use profile by asking a few questions.
I’d like 1 policy for all 4 cars with the e30, e36 and e46 as classics / limited mileage policies. I also want them all with 1 broker so am going to talk to Arachas next week and then a few other brokers.
Try Chubb through(www.sbbinsurances.com), I have my M3 with them the do full open drive on other cars with no limits. Also anyone can drive your car fully covered. They were slightly dearer than Axa, but much better cover.
Will any insurance company treat my 14 year old m3 as a classic. Most places need it to be 15.
Would need a company that will agree a value well above market value and understand modifications.
Alot to ask I think lol
Hi Mark,
Im with Chubb. They do a no argument agreed value which they say they will pay in full, not sure re mods. Its not a classic policy but you can have multiple cars on it. Got it from Max in www.sbbinsurances.com
Thanks Dave. I will contact them
Current insurance provider refused to switch over to the M3 so my plan for taking her out this summer is out the window.
Disaster- could you try take out a separate classic policy on the m3?
This is why I keep the m3 insured on its own policy all year and do not swap and change cars on it. Had this bother years ago. Try autoline shane. I think your car is 15 years old now so they should insure you with a 5k mile limit
You could just take out a separate policy for it and then cancel it after the summer. You'll get a refund for the remaining time and shouldn't really lose anything. This does mean you need a good bit of money for it initially though.
As Mark said, try Autoline if you can. I have a classic policy with them on mine.
Cheers guys, I’ll start looking around so

Got my renewal from Autoline today. Nearly hit the roof as it was €495 for the year. Rang them up and the lovely girl dropped it to €350 immediately. I then told her that I only had it on the road for 3 months last year and it would be the same this year. She then dropped it to €107 for an off the road policy and when I want it on the road again, ring them and she will charge me the difference but when I am putting it away again they will give me a refund again to revert it back to an off the road policy. I had been throwing a few bob away in anticipation for it and now it is far less than I anticipated. Delighted with life!
