Maybe, who knows in the uk I only know the Irish cars. Depends on the Brexit situation. I can see the F series cars staying in high demand, lots of guys want them at the moment and the next one not here until 2020 maybe even 2021. You in the Market?

I hadn't thought about an F8X at all because at their current prices they would be beyond my budget even notwithstanding my wedding cost overrun. But that might change depending on rate of depreciation in 12-18 months, so it only occurred to me when I started to consider waiting until next year to buy instead of this year that it could become an option at that point.
In a lot of ways it seems like a much more sensible option than either of the preceding generations given the lower running costs. If the claimed 34 mpg (combined) is accurate, then that is more economical than I am currently getting on my 318Ci.
34mpg is a fairy tale. I see 20 mixed over 4000km. Running costs are ok. Minor service is 400 major is 800 - 1200. Service packs are a good idea. Apart from that they have no big issues.
E46 is the one to buy and never loose a euro on, so in a way its the most sensible. Not as shocking in speed buy very similar to drive to the f8x.
No m car is a sensible choice, its gona hurt so get the one you want and take off the man maths cap and buy with your guts.

Interesting. Even if not as good as claimed, presumably it's still significantly better on fuel than your e46?
e46 does a solid 18mpg so not much difference in my experiance
My E46 M3 averaged 24-26 mpg in the 4.5 years of owning it.
My daily driver e46 M3 seems to stay at 23mpg average. Thats with motorway/city traffic/roadtrips/trackdays.
I know my old e46 M3 used to do struggle to do 22-23mpg when daily driving and my F80 does 28-29mpg at the moment... both were a mix of motorway/ city driving with a bit of spirited driving :-)
My e46 M3 averages about 22-23 mpg as well on mixed driving.
