I'll put it this way to you my 2012 f10 as a trade in 65000 miles . fsh , well above standard spec in excellent condition , €31000 to change to an Audi a6 of similar spec Apr of 4.9% on a pcp , €33000 to change to a 5 series similar spec Apr 3.9% . €17500 to change to a highly spec'd golf r Apr 1.9%

That's certainly an attractive Apr from VW and a nice low cost to change. I imagine there's never a better time to get a good deal from VW.
Having driven a lowly 116i recently I'd be very tempted by a 1er (but one with a real engine!). If there are deals that good to be had on 135s in the North / Uk then there's no reason why a dealer down here couldn't source one and put an attractive offer together.
I'd be tempted to try a 135 and the Golf R back to back and looking at the numbers for both before making a decision. The one concern I'd have of the Golf is what the trade in value would be in 3 or 4 years.

I just can't get over the looks of the 1 series and to be honest I find the quality of the interiors of anything smaller than the f10 in the bmw leave a lot to be desired!

I'd imagine they'd only do deals to suit themselves though as they'd probably see it as an opportunity to make even more money!
Could be an idea to try source one and import it yourself, probably then it would be worth while. The dealers here seem to be using the exchange rate etc as an excuse to put massive premiums on big engined stuff!

That's fair enough so, that's that ruled out.
I do agree with you on interior quality. I was in a brand new x3 recently and you'd think it was made by Fisher Price in some places.
Sounds like the only thing to do is to get the Golf ordered!

Look don't get me wrong I would like to stay with bmw but I can't really justify in my own mind the cost of coming up in years for the f10 , it's mental money for let's be honest a reg plate , and I've yet to find one with the same or higher spec than my own unless I ordered a new one

Ah no, I'm with you 100%, there's no point shelling out a fortune for a new reg plate, esp when quality seems to be going down all the time.

Just for the craic lads go on the configuratiors and build a 5 series / a6 /golf r
M sport , sunroof , auto with paddles , heated leather , widescreen sat nav , 20" wheels , privacy glass , ambiant lighting , heated steering wheel, electric rear and side sunshades , reversing camera, :surprised:
RE: Items of Interest on "Done Deal / PH / ebay / etc"
The only thing I'd say is, that over the last 12 months there has been a big increase in folks buying decent engined/spec'd cars and if you can stick with what you have for another year or 2, then I'm sure you can probably get what you want and stick with BMW.
On a side note, while looking online for northern reg's cars, I noticed an F10 M5 for €52000, the equivalent here is €96000. I know there's VRT and VAT and motor tax, but good god..... Someone could nearly buy an apartment in Newry at that stage with what's being saved!!
