Well, any car I've looked at has been a 2012ish car with 2 year warranty that will 100% cover timing chain or turbo etc or so I'm told, so that makes the decision easier.Quote:

Insurance companies creating fake profiles on facebook to access photos of undeclared modifications to cars. Had one of these requests myself. How long before the start using forums?
Been going on years saves investigators a lot of effort and hard work when fighting against claimsQuote:

Social media best left to little girls a little privacy in life does no harm imo
Got one myself.
Apparently people are getting letters to declare mods within 15daye or insurance is cancelled as they have evidence the car is modified. (Although I'v seen no proof of a letter)
No harm clamp down on the 1.4 on book but 1.6DOHC VTEC fitted etc..
Where do they draw the line regards mods though?
If you fit Bridgestone tyres to a car that came with Continentals, That's technically a change to manufacture spec.
So, I go on a FB page and start saying Ive fitted a S62 into my 525i, and they see it - they'll send me a letter, to declare the mods within 15 days or the pull the plug on my insurance??
Who is to say Im telling the truth - unless they were at a car show, or similar, and happen to take pictures of said mods, they could find themselves in hot water!
Not so much. Onus is on the person seeking insurance to provide, and substantiate if necessary, all of the information to allow the insurer to assess the risk they are taking in providing cover. If they feel, whether because of social media info or anything else, that they don't have all the facts then they have a right, and probably a duty, to either seek more confirmation of the facts or to refuse to provide cover.Quote:

If they go cancelling insurance due to the belief that you have modified your car, and you haven't, what happens then. For some reason you don't get the letter, away on a holiday and your car is stolen; their word versus yours on wether the car had actually had these fitted or not.

OK, a couple of bits of that are more than a little ott, but there are bits I like. Wonder if they could do it on an e85?? :wink:Quote:

Retired my old 90 piece set after 5 years of faithful service and upgraded to its big brother no more rooting around for larger torx bits and the likes and the ratchet spanners were a badly needed addition

Halfords Gar?
Yep [emoji3]
Bought one of these earlier in the year in a sale. Great piece of kit. Good quality and all the bits for most every job.Quote:

Those halfords tool kits are great theirs pretty much nothing u can't do with it and they have lifetime warranty on them Aswell!! I work in a bus garage and a few of the lads have them as part of their tool kit and I've seen some ratchets getting exchanged with chunks gone out of the handles from where we have had bars on them for more leverage and they have exchanged them no problems
Double trouble

Stupid question time
Can you tax a car thats not insured?

Technically no. (You need to put insurance details on the form)
BUT I used the insurance details from my previous car to tax my current car and no-one said anything.

Happy Xmas folks!
Need a battery for the e46 the original bit the dust Xmas day after 11 years just wondering if there was a preference for the two below Bosch or exide both are similar spec and price he exide is about 10 quid more
Bosch s4

Exide

Battery lasted 11 years????? Get the same battery again :D
It could just be me living under a rock, but I've never heard of Exide, so I'd stick with Bosch, can't go wrong with Bosch!
Dunno about price comparison, But can't fault Halfords with 4 year warranty.
They've replaced one for me no issue. (I didn't have a receipt because it was the previous owner that bought the battery and car was sitting 6months or so)
You can get 20% off if you know someone with a trade card.
The e39 one lasted nearly 13 years ,old oem batterys were excellent I'm pretty sure the same standards don't apply anymore to the new stuff though [emoji6]
I put a bosch one in the e30 and it took lots of abuse, standing for ages, short runs, let go flat, then jumped etc etc and it's still ok. Personally I'd go BMW or Bosch
Cheers for the input folks stuck an order in for the Bosch a few minutes ago
Much is Bosch 4S?Quote:
