Jaysus thats nearly as bad as my hike on the 335d! Ended up with Arachas, didn't even bother ringing the last insurer to haggle if they play silly games like that.
Yep I can't wait to tell them where to stick it, what's the point in chasing off a customer like that anyways?
Already getting quotes online that are somewhat decent, many of them contact you by phone after getting online quotes to see if they can beat any other offers so hopefully that's what happens on Tuesday.

I've actually an interesting update on my insurance quotes.
Chill rang me back and said the best they could do was €3400 or something stupid.
I told her there's no way. She then asked if my parents both drive (which they do, with clean licences and no claims), she added them to my policy as named driver and my quote went down €700.
Now in saying that it's still really expensive but she said to go back to Liberty directly and try.
So I did exactly that and voila. €2500 to €1663 for the year. Cheaper than last year and possibly the best I can do.
So that's a bit of advice for anyone still living with the folks/or not[emoji14]

My bank actually gave me the best quote by miles this year never even thought of them before for insurance everywhere else were looking over a 1k boi came in same price i payed last year not bad on a 15 year old death trap (according to most Irish insurers) I won't have to buy that 10 year old corsa now after all lol
And so the hunt begins for affordable insurance for the m3..
I'm with Axa Direct, last year was €850, this year's quote is €1,200.20.
I'm 38, no points, no claims ever (apart from a windscreen). It's a pain in the hole, I'm sick of paying for the failure of Satanta Insurance, the cost of bailing out QuinnDirect and for every scumbag who stages fake crashes and milks the insurance company.
Definitely give an post insurance a shout John. My renewal on the M3 came in 500 more than last year at 1260. Ive just renewed with an post insurance for €900. Granted its more expensive than last year but no one else came close. Im 27 with 9 years no claims bonus, no points etc.
Did you try a fresh quote with AXA Direct John?
The AA act as a broker for them too - my last policy on the M3 was 550 or so iirc - AXA through the AA. They weren't very competitive this year on the renewal for the Saab, so went with Allianz. EUR350 fully comp, Saab 9-3 1.8T. 39, full NCB.
I had the same crap a few months ago with the M5, I paid €800 last year with Allianz.
I was expecting a hike so shopped around, everyone was in or around €1700.
My renewal came in at €900, I know it's more expensive but it was a relief.

Where are people finding the best quotes these days then? Liberty best for me so far! AXA were having a laugh
123.ie are in the lead for me this time round, Post insurance and the AA aren't far off though. AXA don't come close and I think Liberty have their calculator set to inter-galactic space dollars
So I best quotes with Liberty then Aviva then AIG.
Insurance renewal came in from Liberty today. €908 all in so reckon I can get it down a bit more

I found AIG the easiest to deal with. Cheapest and hassle free. My insurance on a 525d msport was 750 fully comp when I was 21. Most company's wouldn't touch me. I got my renewal this year on my 323i for 959. I'm still only 23. Nobody else even comes close.
What's more I was insured on a 98 318is and transferred my insurance to the 5 series with 10 months left on the policy and they gave me back €27. Classed as a family saloon. I would imagine a 530d would be alot harder to insure.
Hmmm maybe not!

Seems like there was a slight mistake with the quote - got it for 770 fully comp with full ncb protection

€440 last year.
Renewal €780 with Axa through insure my van.
Car is ML270 crew cab. Liberty quoted €1400!
Cheers John.
I'll see what they say tomorrow as I have to renew then.
Ive rang around and I'm getting mad quotes of 1300, 1400 etc
Renewal with AXA is now 761 with full bonus protection and they told me I'm been hit twice, 1. the normal premium increase, and 2. car over 10 years old :(
So renewal came in last week...bearing in mind I've just bought a 12 F10 MSport I was expecting a huge hike and sure enough I got it.......€865 from Chill.ie. Decided to ring around:
Liberty €985
AIG €780
Aviva €1178
AA €950
AnPost €842
AIB €1300
Allianz €870
123.ie €790
FBD €925
QuoteDevil €735
Axa €1213
FBD No Call Back
I rang Chill and said I'm getting better quotes and over the phone he comes back with €595!!!!! Needless to say I was happy with that....... Rang tonight to go ahead with quote and low and behold he said he could get it slightly cheaper as I was paying in full, got it for €575!
As delighted as I am with the quote it beggars belief how they can knock off €300 so easily?????
With all the talk on here and in the media, I decided to do a quick online quote with my current insurer Allianz. The price is within €50 of last years premium, so I'm happy with that. Well not really, its a complete f**k up - another year of money or nothing - no claims no new points etc and still the price is inflated. Give it another 12 months and I'll have to shift the car because it'll be 10 years old and uninsurable...nearly as bad as the 100k miles logic :D
Just got my renewal today went up 50 quid got onto bank of Ireland they are cheaper by a 100e so no brainer going with them not sure what all the hypes about this year in the papers ,cars 15 yrs old and my insurance is the cheapest it's ever been got some crazy quotes online as usual though 3-4k etc
When I try insure my e30 they won't insure it because it's too old . They don't even care that it's got an s50 under bonnet.lol
Just renewed...55% increase on last year...most wouldn't quote as it's a 14 year old car. Qualifies for classic insurance next year though.
Hope you shopped around donal
Yep, phoned all the usual suspects, got three quotes in and around the €1,000 mark...which is madness...the rest wouldnt quote...some because it was more than 10 years old..some because it was over 12 years..some as it was 14 years and over. Was paying something like €400 last year
I spoke with First Ireland, BMW and Mercs of 15 years of age are classic for them. I do only 2 or 3k miles a year so it'd be perfect for me
Insurance is a bloody joke. Trying to transfer my insurance over to the 530d and my own company are charging me 1600 for the privilege and other companies are saying I have to be 30 or older![emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

I got the same shit on the M5, I'm with Allianz at the moment who charge me €900 on the m5

Mine went up from 800 to 1300 for e46 m3. I rang 8 or 9 places and couldnt get a single quote. Either the car is over 10 years old or I am too young (28 with 9 NCBs). I ended up renewing the quote... fecking bell ends.
It's a complete joke though and the agents don't seem to have a clue either - explained to them that I'm currently driving a M3 and their response is that it's just down to the car ....
