I had a nice Sienna Red 323i Coupe. It was a great car.
Spotted in Terenure on Sunday morning.
Looked very nice.

I remember that car from the days of working in conlons
that car has one hell of a story behind it
Do tell the story behind it.
not long after it was originally bought it can into us on the back of a lorry with some suspension damage (we thought the car had be slammed sideways into a kerb)
we started the repairs doing the suspension bits as you would
we then discovered there was a bigger problem..the chassis had twisted slightly in the impact.car needed a bodyshell we thought this was going to be a write off and I think insurance were trying to go down this road aswell.customer must have dug his heels because a few weeks later were given the go ahead to get the shell in..this was later September early October
took the best part of a month and a half to get it in from Germany (think they had to make one for the job as they didn't have any in the factory at the time?)
so shells in one mechanics bay and the original car is in the other one beside it..we took this chance to wind up the parts manager and tell him he got the wrong shell in saying the original car didn't have a sunroof (he nearly died hahaha)
was going to be a long job as it literaly ment taking everything from engine and panels down to the smallest nut and grommet from the original to the new car
we weren't expecting this to be finished until January..heres where the fun began as the customer was very insistent on getting this car back in time for xmas (I think threats of all this falling apart were made )
one lad in the bodyshop did a great job of stripping the original car but the mechanical side of it was a nightmare as the work involved in taking it apart and taking inventory was unreal.in the end it was 1 mechanic doing all this and after him burning the midnight oil (literally as he left the place after midnight on a few occasions) he was just about finished when the electrics started acting up as a few of the control units weren't communicating properly (he had to strip out the wiring harness as there was a break in it somewhere) I remember a few days before we broke up for xmas I was out with some of the lads in there and we were coming back from the pub at about half 2 in the morning on a sunday night and we walked past the dealership and we can see his van was parked outside the main gate and the light from the workshop was on (later told us he went in sunday afternoon and worked through the night) we came in the next day (dying) and the car was running that evening
customer got his car back
bill was about 45k
pretty sure the mechanic got a nice Christmas bonus
customer went on to sell the car the following year
moral of the story..don't do donuts in your m5
and make sure you get paid for your overtime
