RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
Hi John
apologies for the late reply but here is one I took earlier on... any ideas?
This is the bumper so no metal is involved which could possibly explain the cracks under the laquer? It feels smooth to the touch?

I know what you mean with the cleaning and detailing... even my wife is starting to notice every mark on cars we see around at this stage commenting if its has gone through car washes or not ha ha ha :tounge:
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
It's kinda hard to see in that picture?
Are all those lines under the paint? They kinda look like stress marks. My e30 bumper had cracks on the paint but it was direct gloss paint not clear over base like yours. I repainted it with clear over base and it seems the cracks have come back. I'll try and get pics at the weekend so u can compare. Another possibility is sanding scratches, where the bumper was repainted but the sand paper was too coarse.
Here's a handy guide for paint defects, http://www.standox.com/content/dam/EMEA/Standox/HQ/Public/Documents/English/Standotheks/THK_Paint_Defects_GB.pdf
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
Some very interesting reading there John, thanks for sharing  I can see quite a few of the defects between the Coupe and the Estate. Most can be polished off, other panels will need to be sanded down or repainted unfortunately
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing

I agree with your findings there, its great stuff. The hybrid V is super stuff I always use it after a wash.

RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
Very nice, any suggestions for cleaning the seats? The fabric on mine is badly stained
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
Chemical Guys Fabric Clean is very good.
Dilute it down, spray it on, scrub it in, and ideall wet vac it out, but not totally necessary. Pat it down with a dry microfiber, if no vac, it might take two attempts to remove fully, as sometimes it will leave its on slight stain, where the area was wetted and dries with a tide line.

Looking really nice there Dave!!! Gorgeous !!!
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
A bit of wheel cleaning I did last week. I used Bilt Hamber AutoWheel from Detailing Shed.

The wheels are brand new due to the old ones having whiteworm on them. Colm Quinn replaced them with brand new ones. All I need to do now is get the finger out and get Gtechniq C5 on them asap to prevent that happening again!
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
Or CarPro DLUX! ;) :P
Gtechniq Fanboi! :D
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
I've tried CarPro DLUX as you well know and I don't like how sticky it is after application.
RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
At the risking of sparking outrage and controversy...I've found my new favourite detailing product. Turtle Wax Hard Shell paste wax, €9.99 from Halfords...or €9 with group scheme discount.
It's quite a soft paste, so I presume that'll mean durability won't be the best, but it means it's a doddle to apply and easier to take off. Finish is very very good from it..I can only compare it to the likes of Poorboys Nattys or Collinite 476. Worth a punt, especially at under a tenner.

RE: Today I Did Some Detailing
It's not necessarily what is put on the car that makes it look good; 90% of the battle is in the preparation! ;)

Ah yeah absolutely, I reckon mine needs a serious going over to get it looking its best. Would love a full pro detail, but not gonna happen for a while.
The turtle wax was so easy to work with, I doubt it will last me than a couple of washes, but with a tight budget and not much spare time it'll do for now ;)
