Did you try Allianz directly on the phone? I had to jump insurers when I changed from the E46 to the E92. I spent a chunk of time shopping around as there were some mental quotes coming back, some into the 4 figures.
Allianz, all things considered, came in the best at less than €500 (think it was something like €470). Thats fully comp. open drive, windscreen, no breakdown, herself on the policy, full licence (16 years), no points, full NCB (16 years). I know everyones circumstances are different, but not double the cost surely?
+1 on Allianz, they were very reasonable and policy includes all the bells and whistles.
Was that on-line or by phone? Because I was an existing customer it might have made it a bit easier to ring and 'negotiate' and get a lower figure due to other more competitive pricing.Quote:

2Okay so the quote came in from 123.ie...... Drumroll.......
€1921 :surprised::surprised::crying:
Best i can do so far is AIB with AXA at just shy of 1k! Whats happened to the world, the e46 m3 was cheaper! Its somewhat the area (drimnagh) (200 quid cheaper if i put folks place in kk) but still!!
30, full licence for 8 years, 6 years ncb, and no claims (changing policies messed up a couple of years) I know we are getting raped but man thats ridiculous, I'd love to see the bands broken down.
I work specifically as a Network Engineer, but there are no exact matches, so it either IT, engineer, or computer consult.
Try fbd.ie and set the excess to €1,500
Try being a mechanic folks, then you will know all about a head ache trying to get insurance. 123.ie recently rang me to offer me a quote on the other halves 316. Went through it all and when we got to occupation they said they couldn't insure me. My response was I already have a policy with you and my occupation is a mechanic, there response was they've renewed there risk policy and will no longer insure mechanics. They will renew my policy next year as I'm an existing customer but at what cost
Wowsers, I just ran a quote through Allianz and the €592 policy I took out 7 weeks ago would now cost €862. Same cover for your car is €916, I have pretty much the exact same parameters as you - 31, 12 years licence, 6 years NCB, Dublin 13 (might make a difference).Quote:

Did something in particular happen in the insurance market recently?
Not really, it's a cyclical industry. There's been a race to the bottom for the past few years and now the actuaries have started getting worried that the companies are under reserved based on claim volumes. They'll up the premiums and start to the race to the bottom all over again in 12 months or so when one of them starts to discount premium to get market share.
Update on this, getting a quote of 850 with arachas, broking for Allianz. Is actually quite a good policy, with all the bells and whistles including open drive, apr is 8%, so it a tough decision whether to get this or the axx quote for 980 through AIB with 0% apr, the axa policy isn't as good either.
On a side note i heard the EU are making plans to make it cost effective supply insurance and mortgages across the union, likely to drive both down for Irish!
I just had my renewal for the Octavia VRS. Last year paid €444, quoted €800+. Spent ages ringing around. In the end the AA came up best, it was even cheaper to add in AA Breakdown membership to reduce the price. I suspect the AA are mopping up right now.
My end figure with full AA membership came to €531
I got my renewal today, 13,121 euro. No joking... Thats an increase of 60% with no valid reason
€13,121?
Motor Trade policy I assume? Even so that's mental (Must have public liability and a load of other bits?)
Try Powers in Limerick if it's a trade policy.
Got my trade policy renewal today, 2k again this year for me and the brother, not bad i supose as everyone elses is going up lol i wont complain!
Not motor trade. Its fleet with Liberty. It only cover about 7 vehicles in total. It's a complete joke of a premium. It was around 3700 in 2009 for roughly the same thing.Quote:

Quoted €887 with Aviva on a 2012 520d Msport valued at €30,000 fully comp in my own name With 5 years claim free driving experience and my mother on the policy... 22 years old, quite happy with that.
I'm spitting fury at the moment.
2005 E66 740Li
CIAC: €1995
QuoteMe: €1900
ARB: €1962
Liberty: €1945
Kellagher: €1525
Waiting on three call backs but none of them are going to be under €1900.
31yo, 7 years license and NCB, no points or convictions, garaged overnight, <15000km a year, shop keeper. Louth address might be killing it, but it was €800 less than 2 years ago!
I f***** hate this sh1te every year!
Nice car for a 22 year old!Quote:

I guess you hear a lot of stories about cars getting stolen in Dublin/louth and crossing the border before its even noticed its gone, never to be seen again.Quote:

My cheapest quotes were from Allianz and AIG (actually through supervalu but underwritten by AIG) if you haven't tried them?
Managed to get a super quote this year on the Saab from Allianz - they've never been close to being competitive on price previously. Might be worth a shot if they're pushing for new business.
Had a renewal on the e39 530i Sport of €987 with Aviva. At renewal last year the policy was on the F10 520d and after some haggling came in around the €600 and when I transferred the policy to the 530 a few months ago there was a small uplift for the remainder of the policy.
My broker has gotten a quote of €698 with Zurich. I'll probably transfer this policy on to the e60 530i so I'm waiting to see if that has any positive or negative impact on the quote or the best company (younger car and SE rather than Sport, etc.).
Two years ago a renewal for the same policy on the e46 330Ci Sport was just under €600 iirc.
Try fbd.ie and increase the excess from the standard minimum amountQuote:

Not with AIB unfortunately, I take it you have to be?
As soon as I put in the Reg of the M3 they say they won't quote me! 27, full ncb, low risk job and 5000 miles p.a.Quote:

Are Axa direct different from Axa? Because Axa want €1733.21.
Now it's getting a bit mad. Had a call back from the broker.
Quoting for the e60, Zurich, who were cheapest on the e39 530i won't even quote for the e60 and the best quote for it is now back with Aviva at €760, compared to €987 from them on the e39. Even at that, that's still €60 more than the e39 was with Zurich.
Confused? Yeah, me too and now my head hurts thinking about it.
Wow. Bearing in mind your car history, that kind of sums up the extent of the madness of the current situation.Quote:
