RE: PLEASE READ: Off the road declaration/SORD
We got ours just last week. Took a good while. Are they doing this regionally? Seems to be varying amounts of time for everybody?
Did we expect less?
RE: PLEASE READ: Off the road declaration/SORD
I know of someone who was late declaring a car (After the deadline), Off the road since '97 and they got a letter a week back asking for €2,500 in arrears!!
There was also a guy in the tax office today who paid €1,200 in arrears on a tractor.

Why did they just not put it into someone elses name and then back into their own?
Have heard of people in the tax office telling people to do this to avoid arrears...

To be honest James your better off going in yourself I know it can be a pain in the arse but I would hate to think the car is back on the road after posting it in and the Garda take it off you and you get a €4000 fine.
I had a 5 series 2 days and was taken off me and cost €300 to get it back. The paper work will have cleared straight away if you do it in person.

It would be nice, but i cant be talking days off work for car tax, utter madness. Was alright if they had the office in clondalkin still open but sure that intelligent ship has sailed.
RE: PLEASE READ: Off the road declaration/SORD
This is all a bit confusing,
Can anybody tell me exactly what il need to do to declare a car off the road. The car hasn't been on the road since Nov when the tax ran up. Wasn't planning on having it back on the road until April/May......
Do I need a form stamped by Gards?? Will I have to back tax it??

Think you will be hit for 3 month back tax and 3 month starting feb 1
No more Garda stamps. If it not declared it is deemed to be on the road.
Rf150 form
Correct me if I'm wrong please

I agree. If it was me I'd do nothing until the month it goes back on the road, then pay the 3 months arrears and whatever tax you want.
