Was talking to a guy in the nct centre today who's e34 was going through side by side with mine. Said he's been restoring it for the past number of months and it was going up for sale at the end of this week. Didn't get to look at it properly but it was in amazing condition from what I could tell, paint was lovely too. Very similar to arctic grey . Only thing letting it down was the e36 alpina style wheels he had it on which made it look odd.
Why was my post removed from here?
All I said was germaniks was still on site, provides invalubale info knowledge on things and I don't know what the €2 sponsorship fee was all about?
STRANGE????
Swapped wheels for the test maybe?Quote:

Just wanted to get people's opinions on this.
I've to drive to Westport tomorrow evening from the Red Cow, Dublin . Google Maps suggests two routes;
-> M4/N4 to Longford and then the N5 all the way to Westport (247km, 2hr 56min)
-> M4 to Kinnegad, take M6 to Athlone and then the N60/61 to Westport (253km, 3hr 2min)
It's a decent enough drive of a Friday evening and I'm concerned that once I get off the motorway, I run the risk of getting caught up in single lane carriageways. Preferably I would like to stick to the motorway as much as possible and cruise control it the whole way. So to that end I was thinking that I'd be better off going;
-> M4 to Kinnegad, then take M6 to Galway and then the N84 to Westport (283km, 3hr 11min)
It's a fair distance further but more relaxing as a drive given that I will be travelling at 120kph for at least 200km?
Has anyone much experience with the Dublin to Westport route? What's the condition of the N5 or N60/61? How's the traffic in Galway around 7/7.30pm on a Friday?
Cheers

The route from Galway up is horendous....... Yeah it's a windy road and makes it interesting but the road is extremely narrow in places and feels never-ending and full of potholes and dips and bumps! Brother-in-law is from Ballintubber and I took that route for his wedding to my sister..... Thought I was going to wreck the car....and I was in the gf's not my own!! Definitely would not chance it in my own!! This of course is just my 2c..... I came home the way via longford..... Wasn't actually too bad traffic wise, little bit through towns.... but tolerable....Mind you it was a monday coming home so no weekend traffic anyway.
Longford is bypassed no need to enter it I live in the kip and Dublin to westport through longford would be the straightest route only dodgy part of the journey would be strokestown to ballahadreen narrow road rest is wide open
sent from somewhere over the rainbow
I did this recently enough.
Going across, I took
-> M4 to Kinnegad, take M6 to Athlone and then the N60/61 to Westport (253km, 3hr 2min)
Coming back, I took:
-> M4 to Kinnegad, then take M6 to Galway and then the N84 to Westport (283km, 3hr 11min)
Coming back was quicker, even though it's stated above as slower and longer. The worst part of the route is the long straight stretches, boredom easily kicks in!
Car turned onto 180,000 today no pic though. I officially hate numbers too. Have been commuting the last 7 months, 5 days a week for 3 hours total a day.
Roughly a total of 17 and a half days behind the wheel since I started. :surprised: :crying:
Least it's a beemer though right :hehe!::tounge:
