got my renewal in the door this morning expecting a nasty increase and its the same as last year delighted!
Got my renewal for my 2006 mk5 gti from 123 for 664 euro which was way higher than last year so rang them to be offered a 20 euro discount but he said he could try match any other quote I got!! Rang 2 mins later and had to argue for 20 mins to get him to match the quote of 485 I got off 123 online!! But on another note I did find a lot of online company's wouldn't even quote me as a 34 year old on a 2006 golf gti
Got my quote last week from Britton, 23 yrs driving never a claim (touch wood) no Pen points (touch wood). 75% increase on last year. needless to say politely told them where to put it. shopped around online all the usual bandits all up min 50%. then got a call the following day from AA. If I joined them I'd get discount on policy so all in (including yearly membership fee ) . paid €25 more than last year and with an improved excess and better benefits. No doubt next year they'll prob try and fleece me.
have mentioned this to my colleagues and quite a few have gone down this line also and found noticeable improvement on initial quotes. Might be worth a try for anyone presently seeking renewals,
Got my renewal quote from Axa yesterday.
2002 e46 M3
29 years old
9 years full licence
5 years NCB
No claims
No points
It's gone up to €2501 from €1496 last year.
How can it just go up by 67% for no reason? I thought it was bad enough last year!
Must try ringing around now in the next few weeks. Can't fucking stand insurance companies.
So my renewal with Liberty came through today. €2500!! up from €1700 last year. So I rang them and they said there was nothing they could do. I've spent the evening looking around.
AIG - €2,887.48
AXA - €2200
Britton - €3522
FBD - No qoute
123.ie - €1934
First Ireland - €2411.90
AA - €1,942.09
Campion - €4203.67
Absolute disgrace!
Update on this:
I rang around and these are some of the quotes I got:
An Post: €1050
Campion: €1250
Aviva: €2200
Chill: No quote
First Ireland: No quote
AA: No quote
Liberty: No quote
Allianz: No quote
I had lots of other "No quotes". Axa ended up bringing theirs down to €1440 after I kicked up a fuss but still wasn't good enough.
Went with An Post in the end and that's with full NCD protection. All others were stepback.
