I would be quite happy with either to be honest Don :)

05 has 94k miles on it
That 04 has been for sale since Feb/March at least. Think Dennings (bodyshop) owns this.
Peter, I wouldn't get too hung up on a year. Always buy on condition, especially for M's!
I've genuinely never been someone who cared about the reg (and still don't) I'm just traumatised from the e36 and just don't want to get the usual "sure it's an old car" or "it has 100k what do you expect" lines everytime something goes wrong with it. There is no mechanics I trust nearby here and I don't want to be up and down to Cab every other week getting something done which won't be cheap on an M3... So that's why I'm looking for as new, and as low a mileage a car I can get as well as being well maintained.

I certainly considered it :)

Did I miss something? What happened the e36?

Nothing out of the usual Ger!
Re: E92 335i / Late E46 M3 possibly..
In my opinion and from what I have seen for sale regarding late e46 M3s then the mileage is working out for between a '04 - '06 ranging from 95k miles to 126k miles and are still commanding a price of 12.5 - 15k euro. Average miles on an e92 from '07-'08 you're looking at between 85k to 100k miles. You have already mentioned a low miler you were looking at sold on Saturday so your options are compromise on older model with higher mileage or sacrifice the sunroof and buy an average mile e92 and/or stump up the vrt to import one from UK with the mileage, spec, colour you desire. Bear in mind the road tax on an e46 M is 1809 as well and more than likely will require tax from your date of purchase.
A sunroof wouldn't be high on my list of priorities but I'd suggest drive as many variants of both M3 and e92 and decide which is going to be more usable on a day to day basis!

Just to reiterate what's been said about the E46 M's, forget about the year and buy on condition. I'd also look at the spec on them as things that are nice to have but are not necessary nor the reason for buying an M :)
At the end of the day if you're buying a car with 80-100k miles on it, it will be getting to the stage that things will need to be replaced on them, especially if you're using it as a daily driver.
RE: E92 335i / Late E46 M3 possibly..
I would certainly look at condition, just not condition alone, likewise I wouldn't get a late model with low mileage that was neglected.
I like how raw the e46 M3s are, but also like the refinement of the e92. I guess what I'd really like is an e92 M3 but till then it's an E92 335i or E46 M3 :p

The one in Beshoff's has another 18 months warranty on it. Peace of mind there and even if you only kept it the 18 months, you'd have ticked it off the list of cars to own.

Good colour combo and sub frame work done

I keep going on carzone, doing the same search, opening the ad and staring at it.
Peace of mind is what you're buying there for sure! But no sat nav or sunroof and much prefer the style 230s, 78k too which means a couple of years and it will be 100k and more difficult to shift. 13,950 is def good considering the warranty but is more than similar cars. I can't help but think there's a better one/deal to be had somewhere.
M3 looks good, how difficult is it to import a car actually? Don't know anything about the process..

Ok so...

Spoke to the owner, water pump and thermostat walere done along with the coil packs and brakes. New tyres although the alloys are in tatters and one is welded.
Original fuel pump, injectors and turbos. It's now @~70k.
No warranty but he will do a pretty good deal. Thoughts? There will be spare change for possible surprises. But would it be better to hold out for the right one to pop up in Beshoff's or the like with warranty? I can't quite put my finger on it but although it's been maintained well I get the impression that it didn't have an easy life / that it isn't the trouble free car that I'm after..
Definitely want to take a closer look at it but it's a bit awkward with work, seeing as it's in Dublin : /

Could be wrong but don't think that's an M-Sport. Steering wheel doesn't have the M logo and thumb grips and also looks like the head-lining isn't right either!
