You have to remember, its 17 years old - how many other cars at that age are even still on the go :P
Kaveman's 1998 528i, for example wouldnt last long on the market, Id say...and then the likes of Gar's 525i would be snapped up pretty quick...Id even like to think my own would sell without issue, if I gave it a bit of a spit and polish :P
Could you keep it - have you classic insurance on it? The tax is the killer!
Have you storage space? Lock it away - take it out in 5 years time, when even less E39's are about...enjoy it then or even sell it then, as it'll probably be worth a few quid more.
